Abstract
Feeling a sense of connection to an environment evokes a sense of belonging. In fact, feeling a sense of belonging is a basic human need. Educators for decades have used literature to research and further understand how a sense of belonging can impact students. This paper focuses on an intersection of student demographic information, a college student’s sense of belonging and what that means for a college of education and teacher education program. Using data from the National Center for Education Statistics, university demographic data, and a survey centered on a sense of belonging, this research aims to understand and use information to better provide services and opportunities to future educators.
