Summary
There is an increasing desire among the public for reducing the use of synthetic pesticides in turfgrass management. Biological control organisms can be used to manage turfgrass diseases, but their widespread adoption remains minimal due to their inconsistent nature. Overcoming these inconsistencies and implementing biologicals for management of turfgrass diseases will require frequent, high-rate applications, an understanding that they cannot directly replace synthetic fungicides, and an integrated pest management plan.
