Abstract
This study examined the impact of the ReadWorks program on fifth-grade readers at a rural Title I school. Literacy intervention is especially important for at-risk students, and ReadWorks is a structured reading intervention model. Using improvement science, this study addressed two research questions: (1) What effect does ReadWorks have on fifth-grade readers in a rural Title I school, as measured by i-Ready pre-test and posttest Lexile scores? and (2) What are the principal and teacher perceptions of ReadWorks? The findings may help students, teachers, and administrators by evaluating the program’s effectiveness for struggling readers in a rural Title I school.
