Abstract
Copper (I) oxide (Cu20) has enormous potential for photovoltaic applications. Cu20 is a p-type semiconductor with a direct band gap of 2.2 eV. When grown on silicon, thin film Cu20 has the potential to increase photovoltaic efficiency. Cu20 is a suitable photovoltaic material because it is inexpensive, non-toxic and abundant in the earth's crust.
