Abstract
As the Mecklenburg County seat, Charlotte, N.C. has experienced rapid population growth and increased demands on its court system. The result has been a critical need for additional facilities. In a space-needs study conducted by Ferebee, Walters & Associates, renovation options were proposed for hte existing Mecklenburg County Courthouse, county office building and courthouse annex. The study proposed that the existing courthouse should be used only for civil and family court activites while an addition should be built to accomodate criminal court activities.
