Abstract

Low-income and minority youth are greatly affected by the neighborhoods and cities they live in. On top of that, those youth have fewer opportunities to be involved in participation programs that allow them to voice their opinion on plans or projects that impact them and their neighborhood. Youth participation programs can give these youth an opportunity to learn about their neighborhood and its effect on them and the opportunity to possibly make change. The study considers ways in which youth participation programs can be more effective and efficient. The question developed was: how to develop a successful planning participation pilot-program for low-income and minority youth?
