Abstract

Our purpose in constructing the compendium was not just to validate and illustrate our point that those complex correspondences present inordinate challenges to teaching, learning, and applying phonics. In the spirit of our previous article, we were also motivated by the belief that the compendium could be a useful resource for teachers and others involved in teaching phonics when deciding what, how, and how much phonics to teach.
