Summary

Conservation easements are designed to protect land in perpetuity, but some conservation easements can be changed, or amended, under certain circumstances. This article provides a brief overview of conservation easement amendments and an introduction to legal and ethical issues associated with them. It includes recommendations for landowners with conservation easements who are considering amendment request.
