Abstract
This assignment helps students examine their own political identity, analyze polarization as a civic issue, and engage in structured dialogue with peers across ideological difference. Built on UDL and AKIDE principles, the assignment supports varied output formats (written, visual, podcast) and includes optional AI tools for organizing ideas or evaluating political typologies. Students who use AI complete a short AI use and reflection component. The activity fosters civic empathy, public dialogue, and self-awareness—foundational competencies for democratic participation. Adaptable for use in political science, sociology, and first-year experience courses.
